A brand needed packaging for six products in two languages.
What Was Built
One set of rules, written once, and a tool that sets every box from the product’s data, from a 117 mm box to a 540 mm carton.
What It Did
A new product is new data and a correction is one change; every face and every language follows.
The Rules,
Written Once.
Every rule is a measurement the tool applies to any box; the designer decides the rules, the tool sets the boxes.
- Three Colours
Charcoal for the stage, orange for the spine, white for the line; nothing else is coloured.
colour - The Band
A quarter of the front, at the same position on every face, carrying every function.
layout - Scale from the Face
Margins, type and the logo take their size from the face, so a small box and a large carton both read.
size - Two Languages, One Switch
The home market’s language first at home, English first for export; the second language one step smaller.
language - The Product as a Line
One white technical drawing per product; no photographs on the box.
