The Record

What a firm’s presence has actually done, read from its own accounts and archived before it disappears: Search Console, Bing, Analytics and the AI answers, page by page.

The record is step zero of every reading. Before anyone says what a firm should do, the studio reads what its presence has done: which searches show which pages, which pages bring enquiries, what the AI answers say when the firm’s buyers ask. It is written as seven documents the firm keeps.

Why It Matters

Search Console keeps sixteen months of data (Google Search Central); every day the oldest day disappears. A firm that never saved its history cannot compare this year with the last one it had. A record also corrects the usual reports. A ranking is an average across searches no buyer would make, and traffic can be mostly machines: on one network the studio reads, filtering for a real scroll, tap or key press removed 97 % of the recorded sessions overnight.

How the Studio Uses It

The record is archived first, then four sources are joined page by page: Search Console, Analytics, Bing, and the buyers’ own questions asked live in the AI answers. Searches that contain the firm’s name are split from searches that do not, because the first measure demand the firm already has and the second measure demand search brings. The paper What Are You Actually Paying For? shows what a first record found; the Search reading delivers it in two weeks.

The Seven Documents

  1. The map of the work: the whole reading on one page.
  2. Search reality: what Google, Bing and the AI answers show, and what visitors do.
  3. Customer reality: the buyers’ first messages, read word for word.
  4. Competitive reality: who else answers the same questions.
  5. The site: every page read for what it promises.
  6. The next market: the same reading where the firm wants to go.
  7. Additional findings: what nobody asked about.

How to Check It on Your Own Site

  1. Export Search Console’s Performance report for the full sixteen months today, and every month after.
  2. Turn on the branded queries filter and compare the two kinds of demand (Google Search Central).
  3. Ask how many of your recorded visits are people: if nobody knows, every rate in your report is measured against machines.

Asked About
The Record.

How long does a record take?

It is ready by day seven of a two-week reading, from read-only access.

Does anything change on the site?

No. The record reads; it changes nothing.

Why archive first?

Because Search Console drops a day of history every day, and a comparison needs the history.
